Marketing Internship

From March to August in 2018, I worked for phClean where I managed some Facebook and Instagram posts and planned employee parties. I also created several advertisements and posts utilizing Canva to drive Facebook awareness. After my internship, I worked on a few small projects with phClean, including a few video advertisements and segmentation analysis.

How To Keep Your House Clean When You Have Kids

Clean house or kids? You shouldn’t have to choose between the two. And you don’t have to! Here are a few pro-tips to help you keep your busy house clean and organized!

Get the Kids to Help.

When your kids help clean the house, you have less to clean yourself. But their help doesn’t just benefit you; when kids do chores, you’re teaching them how to become an independent adult. Keep your house clean and be a great mom!? What a deal! If your kids are young or unfamiliar with doing chores, start small. Great chores for small kids are making the bed, washing door handles, drying the dishes, general dusting, or cleaning the cat litter. By the time they’re a bit older, they’ll be a lot of help.

Get Organized.

Cleaning is faster when you have a place for everything. Go through those messy drawers and closets sometime. Get bins or other storage spaces. This is especially true for the kids’ rooms. When you have toy bins, it makes their clean-up a lot easier for them.

Establish Rules.

Teach your kids to play with one toy at a time and put it back when they’re done playing with it. My mom always told me that whatever is on the floor after playtime, gets sucked up by the vacuum!

Make Cleaning Fun.

Let’s face it, kids hate cleaning. The best way to get your kids to actually help out is by giving them incentives. Whether it be a small allowance or TV privileges, give the kids a really good reason to help you out. Aside from incentives, another way to make cleaning fun is by cranking up the music!

Why Employees Love phClean

I interviewed five cleaning techs and asked them various questions about their time at phClean. Find out what initially attracted employees to phClean, why they love to work at here, and their favorite part of the job.

Meet:

RAECHEL DEARBORN: Raechel has been working at phClean for over three years! As a trainer, Raechel shows new employees how to clean houses to phClean standards. When she’s not at work, Raechel loves to renovate her home and spend time with her family.

DOTTIE SUE DAVIS: Outside of phClean, Dottie works at her at-home health and wellness company and plays with her new Beagle puppy. Dottie has been with phClean for nearly three years.

REGINA KRIZAN: New to phClean, Regina is finishing up her training and is starting to clean homes on her own. Regina has many hobbies, but her favorite past-time is working on cars.

AMBER ARENDS: In her free time, Amber enjoys spending time with her kids and watching them participate in various sports. Amber has been with phClean for nearly two years now; she is a trainer and our supply manager.

PETREA BAUER: Petrea has been with phClean for 6 months now. When she is not working as a trainer at phClean, Petrea spends a lot of time completing an online degree at Purdue. Aside from furthering her education, she loves to sew and make quilts.

What initially attracted you toward this position and company?

RAECHEL: I had a friend that worked as a tech at phClean and she informed me that it was a nice job with flexible hours. I have 3 kids, so the flexibility was very appealing.

DOTTIE: My husband and I do a lot on the weekends, so the flexibility is great. No nights or weekends!

REGINA: I love to clean! It’s relaxing!

AMBER: The hours are great! I don’t have to work weekends, nights, or holidays. It allows me to spend more time with my kids!

PETREA: I like to clean and this seemed like a great company I can easily fit in. It’s a fun job!

Why do you love working at phClean?

RAECHEL: The management is very flexible with hours. Before I had maternity leave, I was easily able to lower my hours to part-time. They work with my schedule.

DOTTIE: There’s a lot of things I love about phClean. One of the main reasons is the family atmosphere at here; everyone is here to help.

REGINA: The staff is really nice and helpful. I feel like the training is very thorough, as well.

AMBER: I love the environment, in general.

PETREA: I love this job because I can honestly say that I haven’t had a bad day yet. I also love getting to move; why would anyone want a desk job?!

What’s your favorite part of the job?

RAECHEL: I love going to my regular homes; I’ve had some of the same homes for 3 years! I feel like I’ve become part of their family; I even get birthday cards and Christmas gifts from some of my clients! Clients love getting the same cleaner, and cleaners love getting the same client!

DOTTIE: phClean has a whole teamwork and family vibe. If I get sick, I’m able to call in without anyone getting mad at me and they easily find someone to sub in for me. I love the people here!

REGINA: Honestly, the office cats.

AMBER: I love meeting new people – clients and employees!

PETREA: There’s a lot of stressful jobs out there. Being a cleaning tech at phClean is definitely not one of them. Cleaning is therapeutic, stress-free, and gets my endorphins going!

Between flexible hours, a friendly environment, and a great staff, employees love working at phClean! Find out what phClean can do for you at phclean.net.

Why It’s Important to Keep Your Home Organized

You’ll be More Productive.

When your house is unorganized, you might often find yourself in a state of distraction. When your house is organized, you can relax and stop worrying about the next thing on the cleaning to-do list. On top of not worrying about eventual cleaning, you’ll be able to find things more easily.

You’ll Feel Proud of Your Space.

Huffington Post says that living in a clean environment is a necessity for good mental and physical health. A clean and organized home is not only good for your health, but you’ll feel more confident about your space and you’ll be more inclined to invite people over.

It’s Great for Children.

A clean space is great for children for two reasons. First, clean-up is easier. A play session can be made a lot easier when you know where everything goes. Second, it’s safer! There’s less stuff laying around to be tripped on, played with, or swallowed.

Pro-Tips to Get Your House Organized – STEP BY STEP

  1. Make a list. The list should consist of the rooms and/or spaces that you want to get organized and cleaned. If you don’t have a lot of free time on your hands, the list should consist of mostly small spaces; for example, a kitchen cupboard or a closet.
  2. Get out a calendar or spreadsheet.Schedule a clean at least once a week. Putting it down in writing and having a schedule increases motivation.
  3. Stick to the schedule. After a few weeks, you’ll get in the groove of the schedule and before you know it, you’ll house will be clean and organized!

At phClean, we understand that getting your house clean can be very time-consuming. That’s what we’re here for! For more information visit our home page or call us directly at 515-232-8029.

Back to School – Getting Organized

Homework Station

There’s nothing worse than coming home to backpacks on the floor, lost permission slips, and homework not done. There’s a solution for all those problems… a homework station! The ideal homework station has a school calendar, a designated area for backpacks, a magazine file for papers to be signed, and all the homework utensils (pencils, post-it notes, highlighters, ruler, etc.). In order to have the perfect homework station, set it all up in a peaceful and quiet environment.

School Lunches & Afterschool Snacks

If you have a house full of kids, you know just how fast food and snacks disappear. Create designated areas in the fridge and cupboards for school lunches and afterschool snacks. If you’re a super organized mommy, take this a step further by separating the food by weekday by putting the items in Ziploc bags or bins.

Bedtime/Morning Checklist

School mornings are full of misplaced shoes and chaos. Create a bedtime and morning checklist to keep your kids’ routines organized. A good bedtime checklist would include items like: brush teeth, pick out tomorrow’s outfit, and pack school bag. A good morning checklist would include: brush your teeth, eat breakfast, and make your bed.
